WF Pride: Willingness and Desire to Sacrifice and Serve

On her way to a doctor’s appointment in Three Rivers, an elderly woman’s car overheated and broke down in front of the Walther Farms office.  Within minutes, a handful of guys from the farm came over and helped push the car off the highway and into the parking lot.  She proceeded to enter the office to fill her water jug to cool the engine.  While in the office, she asked if she could get a ride into town, as this was a very valuable appointment that she couldn’t miss.  Kristy willingly and graciously agreed.  When the appointment concluded and hour or so later, Nancy drove back to the doctor’s office and returned the grateful lady to her car – which by now had cooled down and was ready to return to Kalamazoo.

Greg, Zach, Pete, Blake, Kristy and Nancy willingly sacrificed their time to help out.  They were all busy, and it wasn’t part of their plans for the day, but they chose to serve a total stranger.  This isn’t always the case with many people today.  It’s easy to serve when it fits in our schedules, or doesn’t interfere with something else.  But how many times have we driven right by someone in need and say, “I don’t have time, I have a meeting or game to get to,” or “they have a phone they can call for help!” Maybe we are that help and God has placed us in that moment at that location for a reason.

God speaks to people who decide in advance to do what he tells them to do, not those who say, “God, tell me what to do and then I’ll decide if I want to do it.” When you have an attitude of cooperation, you are going to hear from God. A willing mind is the good soil the bible refers to.  You need to be able to say, “God, I’m willing to do whatever you want me to do. Even if it seems scary or unusual or hard, I’m going to do it, and I’m going to keep at it until I bear fruit.” Are you willing and ready to sacrifice and serve those around you? God puts people in our path all the time that need us.  Do you see them?  Are you answering the call to help?

Mark 10:45 ~ For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.

“Dear Lord, help us to have a willing heart and mind to serve others.  Help us to see the needs of others over our own.  Forgive us for getting caught up in our own world that we fail to see others as you do.  It’s in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.”
