Integrity
Chad Cottingham
“Hey dad, we broke one of the windows in our house and I need a good lie to tell the landlord” Johnny explained as he called his dad from college. “What do you need?” asked a puzzled father trying to figure out what his son was up to. “Dad, my roommates and I don’t want to pay for the broken window from this weekend, and we need a good story to tell!” Scott, the father, responded “Just tell the truth son! The truth is always the best thing. Worst case scenario is that you have to split a $200 bill six ways.”
~Integrity is a character quality of someone who has sound moral judgment. They don’t compromise the truth. They deal honestly with others. Integrity is something that you prove you have during difficult situations. It is being able to make the right decision even though it may cost you something. If you know in your heart that you made the right decision, you don’t have to worry about getting caught or exposed. Walking with integrity is one of the best ways to prove that you are becoming more mature in your walk with Jesus. ~ Excerpt taken from YouVersion
Scott gave great advice to his son. What advice do you give to those in your life? What are you teaching others by the way you live? Does your life reflect the kind of integrity that is honoring and pleasing to God? Is it the kind that others want to follow?
Psalm 15: 1-4 Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the LORD, and keep their promises even when it hurts. ~NLT
“Dear Lord, help us to be men and women of integrity. Help us to be honest and truthful in all we say and do. Help us to live lives that honor and please You through our words and deeds. It’s in Jesus name I pray, Amen”
