It’s an interesting political season – and that’s a huge understatement. It’s pretty sad really that these two, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, are our choices for President of the United States. So much dishonesty, so many lies, partial truths, and half-truths, to go alongside topics such as taxes, deleting emails, Benghazi, national security, building a wall, race, poverty, education, etc. etc. It’s enough to drive someone crazy trying to read between the lines and discover the real topics and issues that we face as a nation. My head is spinning faster than the media twisting the information in favor of their ‘chosen-one’. The state of politics in our nation is absolutely crazy and has sunk to a new low. We used to look up to our politicians and world leaders as role models and examples of honesty and integrity, but things sure have changed. We’re going to be choosing the lesser of two evils to be the leader of the free world – scary thought isn’t it.
The problem is that we are looking at people to be our role models and leaders. And people will fail us because people are flawed – including me and you. The only true role model worthy of following and emulating is Jesus Christ. His 33 short years on earth were without sin – he never cheated, never stole anything, never gossiped, and he never lied – not once. He was the only one whose actions truly lined up with his words. So as our society and culture continue to digress down paths led by questionable individuals, remember to look to the one true God and follow his example.
Psalm 25:21 ~ May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.
Proverbs 19:1 ~ Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool.
Luke 16:10-11 ~ “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?” ~ Jesus
“Dear Lord, help us to be men and women of integrity. Help us to always look to you and not people as our role model, because people will fail us, but you never will. Thank you for being the example of how to live our lives. It’s in Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
