We’re Hiring

A full-time, year-round Agronomist to be located Garden City, KS.  You will lead pest management and agronomic activities for potato operations in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska. You will be traveling to the farms to provide your expertise to ensure ideal plant health, yielding the highest quality potatoes in the industry. In this role you will be expected to monitor and control insect pests while creating a thorough agronomic plan. If you excel in problem solving, have confidence in decision making, and enjoy hands-on work with plants, this position is for you.

What you would be doing

  • Detect, identify and classify insect pests
  • Evaluate and recommend pesticides for application and coordinate application with custom applicators
  • Assist with data collection of petioles, stem counts, and other information as required
  • Train operations team on field scouting for insects, weeds, disease, etc.
  • Actively supervise all fields and conduct regular inspections
  • Work with Field Managers to execute insect control program and agronomic plan
  • Maintain regular communication with operations to ensure timely applications, field scouting, and crop health
  • Collaborate with Agronomists across the organization to ensure best practices throughout the company
  • Assist with selecting fertilizer and chemical needs for farm operations
  • Manage and input data into farm management software and prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Research and understand current and potential pests within the potato industry

This job might be for you if you have:

  • Experience in potato or crop production
  • Experience in Integrated Pest Management
  • Degree in Agronomy, Crop and Soil Science, Plant Pathology or related field
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel
