Core Value Spotlight – November 2015
Positive Attitude and Passion for Life and Work
If you ever get a chance to meet Scottie Pinkster, be ready! He’s contagious. Scottie has a fever. It’s called Core Value Fever or CVF for short. You will get CVF the moment you meet. You might get a hug too, but that’s not what spreads the fever. It’s Scottie’s positive attitude and passion for life and work. You wouldn’t know it, but Scottie hasn’t even been with us for a complete year but his impact is huge. Scottie started in December, 2014 as the Walther Farms Operations Manager at Fresh Solutions Farm in White Pigeon, MI. Since then, Scottie has listened, learned and earned tremendous trust. He runs the raw product delivery at FSF with complete confidence and little guidance. It’s not so easy for Scottie having had very little potato experience much less farming experience. However, give Scottie a fast ball like learning how table potatoes are readied for market and he will hit a line drive. Throw Scottie a curve ball like 30% hollow heart this year in some of the russets and he hits it out of the park by organizing his team to run 24hrs./day in order to keep up with demand.
Scottie will be the first to admit that he doesn’t know it all and is always eager to get better and expand his knowledge. It’s always great to throw Scottie a challenge and hear him say, “sure no problem, we’ll get it done somehow”. Scottie’s enthusiasm for life and all things Walther Farms is unique. He digs in, gets dirty and cares for his team, he makes sure that he is optimizing profitability as potatoes stream into FSF and he connects with the consumer by being involved in servicing customer accounts. If you can slow Scottie down for a moment, try and catch the fever. He will make a difference in your life!
