In November, 2014 Lauren Hill played in her first college basketball game for Mount St. Joseph College in Ohio. She scored two points. It was the only game and points she would ever record for her school. The 19 year old freshman passed away on Friday, April 10th after a yearlong fight with terminal brain cancer. Mount St. Joseph actually moved the game ahead a few weeks so Lauren, whose tumor was sapping her of coordination and energy, could play in the game. It was her lifelong dream. “This was my dream, to score on this floor, and it felt amazing” Hill said following the game.
In November, basketball great Lebron James, tennis icon Billy Jean King, and legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt, were among the many sports figures who paid tribute to Hill on social media.

• Lebron James posted this caption on his Instagram account: “You are simply ‘AMAZING’ Lauren Hill!!! Thank you for inspiring me and I’ll try my best to match you! Congrats on your game. Also be looking out for a package from me to you! You’re Awesome!!!”
• Billy Jean King tweeted: “Lauren Hill reminds us all when pursuing your passions, cherish each moment, especially those surrounded by friends and family. #1More4Lauren”
• Pat Summitt, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, drove four hours to get to the game posted this on her twitter account: “Such an honor to present @USBWA Most Courageous Award to @1More4Lauren yesterday. One brave young lady!”

Lauren didn’t let cancer stop her from fulfilling her dream of playing college basketball. She actually did more than that. Through her ordeal, she helped raise awareness and more than $1.4 million dollars for cancer research. “Day by day, I hope my message has resided through everyone— that just even more that it’s precious every amount of time you get with someone, no material item matters,” Lauren told a local news station “Every moment you get with someone is a moment that [is] blessed, really blessed.”
Lauren Hill’s passion for life and her positive attitude inspired people all over the world. What are you passionate about? What drives you to be a better person? How are you making a difference in the lives of others each day? Life is too short and too precious to complain and be negative. Take the pass from the life of Lauren Hill and live life with passion – because you never know how much time you really have.
1 John 3:18(NLT) – Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Hebrews 10:24 (NLT) – Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
